Your ticket purchase will touch the lives of thousands of patients and their families served through Covenant Health's leading edge programs. Proceeds from the 2012 Lottery will support Covenant Health's palliative care and end of life program at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital and the Institute for Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine (iRSM) at the Misericordia Community Hospital.
PALLIATIVE CARE
Each year, Covenant Health is privileged to walk with patients and families on the most difficult journey as they face the realities of a terminal illness or losing a loved one to illness. The number of Albertans who will require these services is expected to increase by 33% by the year 2020.
In response to this growing need, Covenant Health is establishing a centre of excellence in palliative care and end of life program at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital to bring experts together to focus on research, care programs, planning and education. Through this closely linked network of people and provincial initiatives, Covenant Health will improve palliative and end of life care for terminally ill patients and their families in communities across Alberta.
iRSM
iRSM is a pathfinder in the treatment of patients who have lost function of and/or experienced severe disfigurement of the face, head, and neck due to cancer, trauma, or congenital abnormalities. Patients who seek and receive treatment at iRSM embark on a lifelong journey with the institute; complex procedures are only the beginning. Patients will visit iRSM regularly for the rest of their lives to receive on-going care and rehabilitation.
Your support will help these patients find hope and healing and support the work of this highly skilled team. A world-renowned clinical institute, iRSM fosters interdisciplinary collaboration among clinicians and researchers in medicine, dentistry, rehabilitation medicine, science, design, and engineering. These dedicated people drive advances in the standard of care-treating the whole patient: body, mind, and soul.
